Apple Pie:
Ingredient:
For Pastry: For Filling:
2 ½ cup of all-purpose flour 8-12 Apples
peeled, cored and sliced
1 tsp. of salt ½
cup brown sugar
1 cup unsalted Butter 1 tsp. cinnamon
8 tbsp. water 2
tbsp. flour
Directions:
For Pastry:
1. Mix the flour, salt and sugar
together in a large bowl.
2. Add the frozen butter into the
flour and mix it thoroughly.
3. Add ice water and mix with until
the dough comes together.
4. Divide it into two parts and wrap
in plastic wrap, flatten and chill for at least an hour.
5. Remove the pastry from the
refrigerator lightly dust your hand and the rolling pin and working surface
with flour.
6. Roll out the large pastry into a
circle slightly larger than the container to cover the edges of an 8-inch glass
pie dish.
7. Transfer the dough to the pie
dish.
8. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.
For Filling:
1. Mix
the apples, brown sugar, cinnamon and flour.
2. Add
the apples to the pie dish and then roll the remaining into a smaller disc and
carefully place over the top of the pie.
3. Roll
and fold the edges of the dough together, tightly sealing them.
4.
Make a few holes into the top of the pie
and place on the bottom rack of oven.
5. Bake for 45 minutes, or until the crust is golden and juices are bubbling.
**Tip:
After placing the lower pastry fill it with a dry bean and put it in the oven for about 15 minutes and then add the apple filling and cover it with the top pastry dough so that the bottom crust doesn't become soggy.
